HUMAN SYSTEMS
Presented by Swinburne National Centre for Design
Directed by Prof. Lyndon Anderson (Biography)
6 & 20 July, 3pm - 6pm
Invitation only
The 2040 Citizen - The central protagonist in shaping and occupying the future city. The team at Swinburne Design will coordinate forums that will bring together industry and academics to explore the issues confronting the citizen of 2040. They will demonstrate that the human occupants of the city are influenced and affected by diverse conditions, and that their lifestyle, health and expectations define the city's agenda. As research indicates the central issue confronting society in 2040 is one of increased longevity and declining birth rates. This will lead to a doubling of today's retired population requiring very different responses from designers.
Human Systems forums will articulate the need for design solutions that integrate new cross boundary thinking - from design to social sciences, inclusive of services and systems in a holistic approach.
